Grand pooja at Krishna Temple: Hindus celebrate arrival of three idols from India Lahore

Hindu leaders including Indian Punjab health minister sent idols
* Idols are of Maan Sheran Wali, Shiv Parevar and Shankar

LAHORE: Amid drumbeats, dancing and colourful bright lights, Hindus held a grand pooja (worship) at Krishna Temple on Ravi Road on Sunday.
The event was organised to display three idols of gods and goddesses, which were given to the temple by Indian Punjab Health Minister Lakshmi Kant Chawla and other Hindu leaders from Delhi and Ludhiana. A delegation of 173 Indian pilgrims was also present at the temple.
Inter-Religious Peace Council Chairperson Jacqueline Tressler, Krishna Temple Central Secretary Dr Munawar Chand and Krishna Temple Committee members Sunil Kumar and Sunny Kumar showered the guests with rose petals.
Chawla sent the idol of goddess 'Maan Sheran Wali', Rudrasood (Ludhiana) sent the idol of 'Shiv Parevar' (Shiv's family) and Vijay Pehlwan (Delhi) sent the idol of 'Shankar'. The participants recited bhajjans (hymns) while placing the idols in the temple. Later, Mahant Vinny Kumar Beragi led the grand worship. In the end prasad (blessed food) was distributed among the participants.
Sanjeet Sundaish Goswami, leader of the pilgrims, said, "This is my fourth visit to Pakistan, especially to the Katas Temples. We bring love and good wishes to Pakistanis and hope that we will return with the same gifts."
Rakesh Sharma, Chawla's personal assistant, said, "The health minister could not visit Pakistan this year. However, she has sent me with the idol of 'Sheran Wali Maan' for Krishna Temple."
The Indian pilgrims thanked the Pakistani government for accommodation and security arrangements.
